Unicorns were manufactured by a major bio-tech firm before the fall as a luxury pet for the children of the ludicrously wealthy. Engineered from various horse breeds and moose, their horns are technically a form of antler, and are shed annually. Most grow the straight, pointed horns traditionally associated with unicorns, but there has been degeneration in many of the remaining herds of wild unicorns and so they can also be found with anything from twisted horns to a full pair of traditional antlers. Socially, unicorns behave mostly like the horses they are bred from. In fact, their herds often merge with those of horses when breeding stock is sparse.
